Left chest digitizing for polos, shirts, and uniforms

A left-chest logo usually sits about 3 to 4 inches wide on a flat hoop. It is not the same file as a cap, even when the artwork matches.

Left chest embroidery digitizing is the stitch file for a logo on a polo, work shirt, or uniform, punched for a flat hoop. Shops that reuse a cap file on a polo often see puckering or stiff fills. The file uses flatter registration, lighter density on pique and performance knits, and stitch angles that follow the garment drape. Width, shoulder-seam placement, and pocket clearance are covered in the left chest embroidery size and placement guide. Send the artwork, finished width, fabric, and left chest placement on the quote form. We deliver DST, PES, or the format your machine reads, plus a stitch preview.

Artwork is handled confidentially and used only to produce your files. Turnaround: typically 6–14 studio hours for a standard left-chest logo.

The technical difference

What changes when a left-chest file is punched.

Placement, density, and compensation are decided before the hoop is framed.

  1. 01

Width planned around 3 to 3.75 inches unless you send a different house standard

  2. 02

Type that will close at that size flagged before it is punched

  3. 03

Density light enough that the placket does not turn stiff

  4. 04

Cap sequencing left out — a hat file is a different ticket
